Winnersâ Recital At Meeting House
The Western Connecticut Music Teachers Association will present the winners of the 2005 Select Student Competition in a recital on Sunday, March 20, at 3 pm, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown. The recital is free and open to the public.
The students performing are those who participated in a competition held at Western Connecticut State University earlier this month. They are from the studios of member teachers in the organization.
The judges were Dr Russell Hirshfield, an associate professor of music at WCSU and Estrid Ekloff, co-president of the Connecticut State Music Teachers Association.
The performers range in age from 7 to 14 and the winners were chosen for their mastery of the music they performed as well as the quality of their performance.
The students are from the studio of Nancy McMillan of Bethlehem; from the studio of Margarita Nuller of New Fairfield, with students representing Bethel, Brookfield, New Milford, and Vista, N.Y.
Jessica Supp of Middlebury studies with Beate Neblett, also of Middlebury; and from the Danbury studio of Diane Cooke are Ariel and Ian Ekblaw of New Fairfield and Christian Szabo-Williams and Dan Whitcombe, both from Danbury.
