Warrant Service
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Astley A. Lee, 55, of Bridgeport turned himself over to them on the afternoon of March 10 and was charged with second degree failure to appear in court and failure to have automotive insurance. The insurance charge stems from a past incident. Police released Lee on $1,000 bail for a March 30 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Mt Pleasant Crash
Motorist James Wilkins, 17, of 27 Taunton Lane, who was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 2 pm March 8, lost control of the vehicle due to snowy road conditions, slid across the street, hit an embankment, and then struck some guardrailing, police report.
Wilkins was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
DUI Charge
Police report they stopped motorist Darcy Bunting, 34, of Seymour for violating a traffic signal at the intersection of Botsford Hill Road and South Main Street about 12:30 am March 13.
Police said they performed sobriety testing, after which they charged Bunting with driving under the influence.
The vehicle that Bunting was driving contained a passenger under age 16, police said. Police additionally Bunting with risk of injury to a minor, failure to obey a traffic control signal, and failure to carry a driverâs license.
After processing the case, police released Bunting for a March 29 court appearance.
Church Hill Collision
At about 5:30 pm March 13, motorist Christina Heidrich, 51, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Subaru Legacy westward on Church Hill Road, attempted to turn left into the St Rose of Lima Church parking lot, police said.
At that time, motorist Lisa Romano, 17, of 4 Checkerberry Lane was driving a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass eastward on Church Hill Road, police said.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Heidrich a written warning for failure to yield the right of way.
Grayâs Plain Accident
About 1:14 am March 12, motorist Denise Dargel, 22, of Milford was driving a 1997 Volkswagen Passat southward on Grayâs Plain Road, police said. While making a turn to avoid hitting a deer, Dargel lost control of the vehicle on the snowy road, striking three guardposts and coming to rest against a tree alongside the right side of the road, police report.
Dargel was not injured. Police issued her a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Ford Flips
Motorist Kevin McFadand, 43, of New Milford, who was driving a 2000 Ford, was backing up on a driveway at 4 Dayton Street about 12:27 pm March 11, when the vehicle slid sideways in the snow and went off the driveway, rolling over onto its right side, police said
McFadand was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Currituck Collision
Motorist John Antonios, 35, of Danbury, who was driving a 1986 GMC van owned by the United Parcel Service, was heading northward on a snowy Currituck Road about 11:22 am March 8, after which he stopped to back up into a driveway, police said.
During the maneuver, the van collided with motorist Melissa Gregson, 36, of 4 Papoose Hill Road, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Antonios a written warning stating he failed to keep to the right.
Wasserman Way
While driving on Wasserman Way in snowy conditions about 1:40 pm March 8, motorist Jamie Maguire, 29, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2000 Ford pickup truck, collided with motorist Susan Roberts, 41, of 7 Susan Lane, who was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition sport-utility vehicle, police report. There were no injuries or enforcement actions.
South Main MVA
Motorist Ferenc Forintos, 27, of Westerly, R.I., who was driving a 1996 Cadillac DeVille northward on South Main Street on March 10, was attempting to make a right turn onto Ethan Allen Road, when northbound motorist Federia Gregoire, 46, of 7 Rockywood Drive, who was driving a 1996 Land Rover Discovery sport-utility vehicle, attempted to pass the turning Cadillac on the right, resulting in a collision, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Gregoire a written warning for passing on the right.
Volvo Off Road
Motorist Christie Zingoni, 17, of 3 saddle Ridge Road, who was driving a 1998 Volvo V-70 station wagon eastward on a snowy Sugar Street about 12:12 pm March 8, lost control of the auto and went off the eastbound road shoulder, striking a pole on private property and then coming to rest in the front yard at 85 Sugar Street, police said.
Zingoni was not injured. Police issued her a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Ford Vs Jeep
About 7:25 am March 9, motorist Marjorie Keegan, 54, of 106 Head of Meadow Road, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Wrangler southward on South Main Street near Peckâs Lane, stopped due to traffic conditions, police said.
Southbound motorist Jose Ferreira, 36, of Bethel, who was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup truck, slid into the rear end of the Jeep on the icy roadway, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Ferreira a written warning for following too closely.
Toddy Hill Mishap
Motorist Roy Madsen, 87, of 39 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 1997 Buick Park Avenue, was stopped at the end of the Ashlar of Newtown driveway and was waiting to make a left turn onto Toddy Hill Road in snowy conditions at about 5:49 pm March 8, police report.
In making that turn, the Buick collided with a 1999 Hyundai Elantra driven by Jennifer Tani, 27, of 11 Bungalow Terrace, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Madsen for failure to grant the right of way from a private driveway.
Queen Street
Police report a two-vehicle collision on Queen Street near the entrance to Newtown Shopping Village about 5 pm March 9.
The accident involved motorist Laurie Miller, 22, of 15-A Parmalee Hill Road, who was driving a 2000 Pontiac coupe, and motorist Jennifer Mesaric, 33, of Sugar Street, who was driving a 1995 GMC Jimmy sport-utility vehicle, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Miller an infraction ticket for unsafe backing.
Sedan Vs Minivan
On March 9, a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Thomas Whitman, 48, of 206 Sugar Street collided with a 1999 Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by Nancy Rescino, 34, of Bow, N.H., on Queen Street, near the entrance to Newtown Shopping Village, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Whitman an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.
Dodgingtown Collision
Motorist Scott Chmielewski, 17, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1993 Oldsmobile Ciera westward ion Dodgingtown Road, was making a left turn to enter a driveway at 7 Dodgingtown Road, crossing into the path of eastbound motorist Margaret Cassin, 68, of 9 Cedar Hill Road, who was driving a 1990 Dodge Shadow, police said.
The two vehicles collided, but there were no injuries in the accident that occurred about 11:40 am March 10, police said. Police issued Chmielewski an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.
Snowstorm Accident
Police report a two-car accident that occurred during a snowstorm about 12:45 pm March 8 at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Queen Street.
The collision involved motorist Chris Berardi, 27, of 14 Mt Nebo Road, who was driving a 1990 Acura Integra, and motorist Amanda Cannata, 20, of 13 Appleblossom lane, who was driving a 1998 Saturn SL-2, police said. There were no injuries.
South Main Accident
Police report a two-vehicle accident on northbound South Main Street, at its intersection with Park Lane, about 1:43 pm March 15.
Motorist Jeanne Heiman, 50, of New York City, who was driving a 2002 Toyota coupe northward on South Main Street, slowed and then stopped behind a stopped northbound noncontact vehicle, which was waiting to make a left turn onto Park Lane, police said.
Northbound motorist Kimberly Wise, 20, of 19 Huntingtown Road, who was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, then struck the rear end of the Toyota, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Wise a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
