RN Refresher Course Offered At St Vincent’s College

BRIDGEPORT — A refresher course for registered nurses interested in returning to work in a clinical practice setting will be introduced this spring at St Vincent’s College as part of its Continuing Education offerings.

The seven-week program begins on May 17 with sessions held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 am to 3:30 pm. It is open to all nurses who hold a current Connecticut registered nurse (RN) license. Sessions include theory, college lab, and supervised clinical practice. The college is located adjacent to St Vincent’s Medical Center at 2800 Main Street.

“The job market for nurses is excellent and there are many nurses who have been away from the field for awhile but would like to return to the acute care practice setting,” said Virginia Stoeffel, director of continuing education.

“This new course is a great opportunity to fast track their update and get back to work,” she said.

Ms Stoeffel said the course reinforces previous nursing knowledge related to nursing process, patient health issues, and acute care. It also offers an overview of current therapeutic practices, recent advances, new technology, and hands-on practice in nursing skills lab and the acute care clinical setting.

St Vincent’s College offers a wide range of professional development courses in nursing, CPR, physical and occupational therapy, radiologic technology, computers, and wellness. This spring the college will also introduce its new medical assisting certificate program.

For information or to register, contact Virginia Stoeffel at 203-576-5651 or email vstoeffel@stvincentscollege.edu or visit www.stvincentscollege.edu and click on Certificate Programs.
