Prevention Council Resource Guide Now Online
The Newtown Prevention Council in partnership with The Newtown Bee, has provided an online version of its newly released Community Resource Guide, which can be viewed anonymously, or downloaded from The Beeâs website as a pdf file.
This alternative is being provided for individuals who may be seeking support or assistance regarding a substance abuse issue in their home, but who may not want to request a printed copy from the Newtown Health District, or one of the Prevention Councilâs other distribution locations.
The guide was compiled by Donna Culbert and the staff of the Newtown Health District.
Ms Culbert said the guide will be distributed to police and social service offices, mental health organizations, community and school libraries, school guidance departments, doctorsâ offices, even local pharmacies.
âItâs hard enough for a parent, or caregiver, or a person facing an addiction themselves to step up and ask for help,â Ms Culbert said. âWe want to make sure people can get to the resources they need, when they need them.â
To that end, The Bee is collaborating with the NPC, providing the blind download of the publication in through its website. This means anyone with Internet access can read or download the publication without any concern that their access may be traced or identified.
âProviding this prevention guide as a readable or downloadable file through The Bee will be an easy way for anyone who wants anonymity to access the resources they may need in a crisis situation, whether itâs a student, parent, spouse, or senior,â Ms Culbert said.
