Margaret Regan Holroyd, 75, of Shelton, formerly of Stratford, died March 14 in St Vincent Medical Center. She was the widow of Benn (Bud) Holroyd.
Survivors include her adoring family, three sons and their wives, Michael and Carla Holroyd of Sandy Hook, Jeffrey and Erin Holroyd of Stratford, and Christopher and Stephanie Holroyd of Fairfield; one daughter, Susan Simmons, and her husband, Jason, of Monroe. Two bothers and their wives, Patrick and Virginia Regan of Milford and John and Carmella Regan of Stratford, also survive her. In addition, she leaves 12 grandchildren: Sarah and Kathleen Holroyd, Jennifer, Audrey, and Emily Simmons, Carrie Simmons, Markaj, Jesse, and Brittney Holroyd, Katherine Fedeli, Jackson, Liam, and Blake Holroyd; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Holroyd; and loving nieces and nephews, Patrick, Sharon, Timothy, and John and their families.
Born in Bridgeport, Mrs Holroyd was the daughter of the late Michael Lyons and Elizabeth Butler Lyons and her adoptive father, the late John Regan. She was a clerk of the State of Connecticut, retiring in 1996. Mrs Holroyd loved life and her sense of humor never failed her. Her courage and resilience will continue to be an inspiration to her family whom she adored. Her grace and warm spirit inspired all who knew her. She had a love of flowers and reading.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, March 18, at 11 am in the Dennis & DâArcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford, with the Rev Stuart Baker, pastor of the Stratford United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:30 to 11 prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the recreation department of Shelton Lakes Nursing Home, 5 Lake Road, Shelton CT 06484.
