Love & Knishes April Lunches
SOUTHBURY â Area seniors are invited to enjoy lunch and entertainment on Tuesdays during April at the Love and Knishes Lunch Program of the Federation Jewish Communities of Western CT.
The programs take place in the social hall at Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North. The food is freshly prepared each week by Chef Nancy Stokes and features healthful, delicious menus with everything from salad to dessert.
Lunch is served at noon and programs start at 1 pm. The following programs are featured:
On April 5, the singer and guitarist Kayte Devlin Batter will play everything from show tunes and cabaret music to favorite jazz pieces.
The April 12 program is âHealthy Life Choices for Your Brain,â to be presented by Linda LaBarge, the program director of Scattering the Clouds. She will discuss staying sharp and active, exercising the brain, and living a long, healthy, and dementia-free lifestyle.
On April 19, Arthur Milnor, the executive director of Flanders Nature Center, will talk about its colorful founder, the artist, farmer, and environmentalist Natalie Van Vleck. He will also discuss the mission of Flanders, its programs in art, farming, and agriculture, and how its programs align themselves with the life and career of Ms Van Vleck.
Lunch reservations should be made by Thursday for the following week. All programs are open to the public, and there is a suggested donation of $5.50 for seniors.
