Irene           Thacker

Irene Thacker, 85, wife of the late Harold Thacker of Toddy Hill Road, Sandy Hook, died March 12 in Ashlar of Newtown.

She was born in Bolton, England, on November 7, 1919, a daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah (MacNair) Beckett. A resident of Newtown since 1965, Irene was known for the handmade Santas she made that were displayed each Christmas at the Cyrenius H. Booth Library.

She is survived by her daughter, Nita Hill, and her grandson, Jonathan Hill, both of Sandy Hook.

Irene’s family wishes to thank all their friends for their support and kindness shown to them during this difficult time.

Private services and burial in Newtown Village Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
