Health & Wellness Expo

At NVCC

WATERBURY — Naugatuck Valley Community College’s Office of Health Education and Disability Services will hold a Health and Wellness Expo on Thursday, April 7, from 10 am to 2 pm, in Café West.

Admission is free. Exhibits will include lung capacity screening, blood pressure assessments, cholesterol and glucose testing, chiropractic and posture screenings, depression screening, early prevention and detection information on breast and cervical cancer, skin cancer screening, back massages, as well as a variety of alternative wellness and healing techniques, such as Reiki, reflexology, and relaxation therapy.

Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about the state’s Healthcare for Uninsured Kids and Youth (HUSKY) insurance program and the Safe Havens Act for Newborns.

More than 25 community organizations plan to participate, including: Advanced Radiology Consultants, AIDS Project Hartford, Al-Anon, the American Red Cross, Carolyn’s Place, Heart and Sole, Physicians’ Health and Wellness, Poison Control, Saint Mary’s Hospital Family Health Center, Waterbury Public Health, Safe Haven, Lupus Foundation, Carolyn’s Place, the Department of Child and Family Services, Husky Info line, Narcotics Anonymous, Progressive Eye Care, American Cancer Society, and the Connecticut Counsel on Problem Gambling.
