Girl Scout Sunday

Newtown United Methodist Church celebrated Girl Scout Sunday this past March 13, in which Newtown troop members greeted congregants as they arrived for the morning service. Scouts Felicia Cavanah and Grace Clark served as acolytes and Kim and Lyndsey Pearlman served as ushers for the special and unique service. The altar was adorned with yellow and white daisies in honor of the day.

Brownie Scout Troop 749 of the Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut, Inc hosted a coffee hour following the service in honor of the scouts and leaders, past and present. Each of the scouts was presented with a Girl Scout Sunday patch as a commemorative of the day.
