Birding The Connecticut Shore At Hammonasset State Park

Lillinonah Audubon Society (LAS) will hold its monthly outing on Saturday, March 26, at 8:30 am, with a field trip to Hammonasset State Park in Madison, and to other shore points including Sandy Point in West Haven and the Connecticut Coastal Center in Milford.

The group, led by expert birder Carolyn Longstreth, will search for wintering loons and grebes (hopefully in breeding plumage), seaducks, hawks, and owls. Land birds may also be observed, including horned lark and lapland longspur, as well as early migrants such as the endangered piping plover.

Phone Ms Longstreth to reserve a space at 264-9502. The group will meet at the commuter lot at Exit 14 off I-84. Bring drinks and snacks, and dress appropriately.

Plan to return by midafternoon. LAS members and the public are invited.
