Jacobus "Co" Ravenhorst died on February 14, with his daughters by his side. He was born to the late Eleanora and Lambert Ravenhorst in Vaasen, Holland, in 1935.

His three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Bill Petersen of Newtown, Rhonda Ravenhorst of Sandy Hook, and Michelle and Joel Hirshfield of Trumbull; his loving sister and brother-in-law, Riet and Joop Putto of Apeldoorn, Holland; six grandchildren whom he adored; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr Ravenhorst. His wife, Cobi, predeceased him in 1997.

He emigrated to Australia in 1951, where he met and married Cobi. With two children and two suitcases, they arrived in the United States in 1961 to pursue the American dream. He was a self-employed general contractor.

Mr Ravenhorst enjoyed playing a variety of instruments, traveling, racquetball, sailing, scuba diving, and entertaining.
