Obama And Religion

To the Editor:

If you are feeling that President Obama is trying to dismiss the importance of Christian and Jewish faith in America, you will find the following facts support that view. David Barton, noted Conservative historian, has collected the numerous instances that show that this is true, complete with their citations. I summarize just some of these as follows:

*April 2008 – Obama disrespects Christians, saying they “cling to guns or religion” and have an “antipathy to people who aren’t like them.” (Christianity Today, 4/13/08)

*April 2009 – At a Georgetown University speech, Obama orders that a monogram “symbolizing Jesus’s name” be covered during his speech (NBC Washington, 4/17/09).

*May 2009 – Obama refuses to host services for the National Prayer Day (a day established by federal law) at the White House (Los Angeles Times, 5/7/09).

*April 2009 – Obama deliberately nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican; the pro-life Vatican rejected all three (The Guardian, 4/14/11).

*October 2010 – Obama deliberately omits the phrase “the Creator” when quoting the Declaration of Independence – he did this on no less than seven occasions (The Blaze, 10/19/10).

*November 2010 – Misquoting the National Motto of the US, Obama says it is “E pluribus unum” rather than “In God We Trust” as established by federal law.

*January 2011 – A federal law was passed to transfer a World War I Memorial in the Mojave Desert to private ownership, including allowing the cross in the memorial to continue to stand. Obama “refused to allow the land to be transferred as required by law, and refused to allow the cross to be re-erected as ordered by the Court.” (Red State, 1/14/11)

*August 2011 – Obama repeatedly spoke on behalf of building the Islamic mosque at ground zero, while staying silent about a Christian Church being denied permission to rebuild at that location (Fox News, 8/13/10 and American Thinker, 7/21/11).

*September 2011 – The Army issues guidelines for Walter Reed Medical Center stipulating that “No religious items, e.g., Bibles, reading materials and/or facts, are allowed to be given away or used during a visit.”

It is chilling to people of faith that our national leader, Barack Obama, is so open about his disrespect for our Judeo-Christian culture. We will certainly remember this as yet one more reason to vote this despicable politician out of office in November!
