Head Oâ Meadow Students Celebrate Writing
By Eliza Hallabeck
In the rooms of Head Oâ Meadow second grade teachers Sara Washicko, Karen Dreger, and Amy LaRusso, on Wednesday, February 29, students read to their fellow students, parents, and teachers.
After the second grade students watched interactive DVD lessons created by childrenâs author Lester Laminack, the young writers explored different writing techniques, according to the teachers.
When their work was completed, the teachers hosted a Writerâs Celebration at which each studentâs work was shared.
Head Oâ Meadow Principal Barbara Gasparine said the new Writerâs Celebration is the culmination of the districtâs focus on writing during professional learning communities over the past two school years. The days for professional learning, Ms Gasparine said, allow teachers to hone their skills and focus on what is best for the students.
âToday was a wonderful opportunity for the students to share their work,â said Ms Gasparine.
