The work of Newtown artist J. Neil Bittner is on display at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, through March 31.

Located in the showcase outside the Children's library, the exhibit is a collaboration between the library and Newtown Cultural Arts Commission. It can be viewed during regular library hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am-8 pm; Friday, 11 am-5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am-5 pm; and Sunday, 12-5 pm..

Mr Bittner's works are comprehensive and pervasive and are in private collections all over the world. Although he works in six mediums - serigraphs, lithographs, oils, oil painting, collages, stained glass, and photography - only examples of his collages and serigraphs will be at the library. He will have a more extensive show at Newtown Municipal Center this fall.

His collages have been described as a "minefield," where images "explode in your mind." He has combined oil painting with collages, creating a whole new medium for communication.
