Habitat Opens Applications For New Home
DANBURY â Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, the greater Danbury affiliate of the nonprofit homebuilder Habitat for Humanity International, is opening applications for a new home to be built in Danbury beginning later this year.
Families in need of decent, affordable housing are eligible to apply if they meet certain criteria which include a specific income level (currently between $23,000 for a single person and $40,000 for a family of four), ability to work with others, and willingness to contribute at least 400 hours of âsweat equityâ building their home.
Informational meetings will be held at 9 am on Saturday, April 1, at the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Avenue; 7 pm on Tuesday, April 4, at St James Episcopal Church, 25 West Street; and 7 pm on Thursday, April 6, at New Hope Baptist Church, 10 Cherry Street.
Interested parties should bring copies of the following: A recent federal income tax form, two paycheck stubs, their latest credit card bills, their latest utility bills if not included in their rent, their most recent bank statement, and a copy of documentation of non-employment income.
