Due to the inclement weather, tonight’s “Substance Use and Addiction — Balancing our Hopes and Concerns” presentation has been canceled.

Dorrie Carolan, whose Newtown Parent Connection has rebranded and expanded to host support groups and prevention activities throughout western and central Connecticut, announced the decision Tuesday morning. The presentation was to highlight work being coordinated across the state by Western CT Coalition, addiction disorders and brain science, and one panelist’s personal story of addiction and recovery.

The program would also cover efforts to improve treatment and progress being made among the recovery community, and local police efforts around the Newtown area.

Carolan plans to hold the event at a later date.

“We will reschedule as soon as we receive a date from the church,” a brief statement shared via email.
