Middle School Students To Present 'Shrek The Musical Jr'
Newtown Middle School students rehearsed in their first full run-through of their upcoming production of Shrek The Musical Jr on Monday, March 9.
“I’m really impressed with their memorization and dedication,” said Co-Director Lesli Allen as students took their places for the first run-through.
Shrek The Musical Jr is set for showings on Friday, March 27, at 7 pm, and Saturday, March 28, at 2 pm and 7 pm, and Sunday, March 29, at 2 pm. All performances will be at the middle school, 11 Queen Street.
Tickets are $10 per person and started selling on March 9.

According to an announcement for the show, it is a family-friendly musical comedy that follows the adventures of an ogre named Shrek who sets off on a quest to save a princess from a dragon; however, it turns out that in order to ultimately succeed, Shrek must battle different obstacles, including learning how to believe in himself.
A free special performance of Shrek The Musical Jr will also be offered for all senior citizens on Thursday, March 26, at 2:30 pm. Complimentary hot tea, coffee, finger foods and dessert will also be offered in the school’s cafeteria for the afternoon performance.
