Loving Father
John âChicâ Joseph Kolcun, Jr, 85, of Milford, died March 8 in Milford Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on February 22, 1923, to John Joseph Kolcun, Sr, and Anna Ferko Kolcun in Plainfield, N.J. He was the beloved husband of Victoria Rodia Kolcun for 60 years.
Mr Kolcun was the loving father of two daughters, Deborah Giannini and her husband, Duane, of Newtown and Joan Krusinski and her husband, Richard, of Milford. He is also survived by a sister, Anne Dattilo of Stratford. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Amy, Alison, Amanda, Melissa, Megan, and John; the great-grandfather of Molly, Emma, and Olivia; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Mr Kolcun was predeceased by his brother Michael Kolcun, and sister Margaret Kafara.
He was a World War II veteran, who proudly served in the US Army. He retired from Phillips Medical System in Shelton after 15 years of service. Mr Kolcun was an avid Red Sox fan and was proud to show his pride. He also loved to read and took a strong interest in building model cars, ships, and airplanes.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 12 in St Maryâs Church, Milford. Interment followed in Kings Highway Cemetery.
