I would like to offer that perhaps it is the “commuters” who create the “dangerous situations.” Our bus stop is at an intersection. I always try to park far back from the stop sign. While waiting there I observe speeding cars, cars not coming to a full stop at the stop signs, and cars ignoring stopped buses picking up or dropping off children.

I take offense to the writer’s comment that the children must be “weak, out of shape, and easily influenced,” thus the reason they can’t walk to the bus. I do not allow my children to walk to the bus because of the “commuters” traveling way above speed limit on my road. Perhaps people need to allow more time to get to work, so as not to put our children in danger at the bus stops.
