Russell            Battista, Sr
Russell Battista, Sr, 87, of Sandy Hook, died March 10 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Linda (Miguel) Battista.
He was born in Danbury, September 11, 1915, son of the late Frank and Dora (Novella) Battista.
Mr Battista was employed by the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier, retiring in 1978 after 25 years of service. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
In addition to his devoted and loving wife, he is survived by his children, Dorothy Lourenco and her husband, Albert, of Newtown, Mary Ann Hinckley of Danbury, Russell J. Battista, Jr, of Huntington, and Frank Battista of Enfield; sister, Angeline Healey of Danbury; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dominic and Johnny.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Peter Church, Friday, March 14, at 10 am. Burial will follow in St Peter Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, Thursday, March 13, from 5 to 8 pm.
