Read The Book, Pass It On
Read The Book, Pass It On
In little more than a week Newtown Reads, sponsored by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library, has the town reading and talking about April Morning by Howard Fast.
Fifteen hundred copies of the book were passed out throughout town by more than 50 enthusiastic volunteers. Few copies remain at the library, and organizers hope that Newtowners will pass their copies along to family and friends once they have finished the book.
Events already scheduled include a screening of April Morning on March 21, at 7 pm, at the library and a talk by Dan Cruson on âNewtown During the American Revolutionâ at the library on Tuesday, March 25, at 7 pm. Mr Cruson will also be leading a walking tour of Putnam Park, a winter encampment for the Patriots, on Saturday, April 11 (with the time still to be determined). And on Saturday, April 13, the Matthew Curtiss House will be hosting an open house with tours, cooking, and rug-hooking demonstrations.
Many book discussions will be taking place during the month of April. Anyone who would like to be a discussion leader, or who like to participate, should call the library at 426-4533 or Gordon Williams at 426-6443. For more information, check the library website at www.biblio.org/NewtownReads.
