James “Jim” Linnell, 91, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Born in St Francis, Kansas, Jim was a son of the late Seth and Margaret Hanley Linnell.

Jim proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean war and was an All Navy Champion Wrestler. A graduate of Kansas State University, Jim worked for RCA in Camden, N.J., then later started Linnell Electronics and Peripherals General Inc. He joined General Data Comm in Danbury, Conn., in 1976 where he was the vice president of engineering before becoming president of the International Division in Wokingham, U.K., from 1980 to 1982.

On March 16, 1974, Jim married Patricia Perry, residing in Avalon and Maple Shade, N.J., relocating to Newtown, Conn., in 1976. After his retirement in 2010, they moved to warmer weather in Calabash, N.C. Jim was a member of Seaside United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and a member of Crow Creek Golf Club.

Surviving him, in addition to his wife of almost 49 years, are his sons, Jeff Linnell, Jason Linnell (wife Melissa), and Matt Linnell (wife Michelle); daughters, Lindy Hamilton (husband Mark) and Jenny Brooks (husband Rich); and grandchildren, Hannah, Jane, Casey, Taylor, Nikki, Colby, Riley, and Peter.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Seaside United Methodist Church, Sunset Beach, N.C.
