Newtown Public Schools To Be Closed March 14

In a proactive move, Superintendent of Schools Dr Joseph V. Erardi Jr announced Monday afternoon that all Newtown Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, in light of an approaching blizzard that could bring well over a foot of snow to Newtown.begun announcing cancellations. C.H. Booth Library has already announced that it will be closed on Tuesday, and Town of Newtown Emergency Communications Director Maureen Will announced early Monday afternoon that Newtown Municipal Center would also be closed on Tuesday. A CodeRED message from Ms Will also announced that all non-essential Town employees have been directed to stay home on Tuesday, which is expected to be the worst time for the storm.

Dr Erardi also announced that school offices and the Board of Education Central Office would also be closed on Tuesday.

Snow is expected to reach the area "late tonight into Tuesday evening," according to the Blizzard Warning by the National Weather Service that includes Newtown.
