The Best Way To Approach A Job Search
C.H. Booth Library and Cheryl Schwartz, LCSW, CRC, a Newtown career consultant and clinical social worker, have joined to present a three-session workshop designed for the underemployed, the unemployed, or those seeking a change from their current employment. It will focus on the three key components of the job search: the resume, job search strategies, and the interview.
First in the series on Thursday, March 19, is âThe Resume.â Ms Schwartz will focus on format, content, and how to create a powerful resume, as well as the importance of writing accomplishment statements.
On Thursday, April 23, she will present âJob Search Strategies.â In this second session, Ms Schwartz will share important advice on understanding the current job market, various methods of job searching, self-marketing, networking, and contact development, as well as tips on the hidden job market.
Finally on Thursday, May 21, the series will culminate with âThe Interview.â In this last workshop Ms Schwartz will offer information on interview dos and donâts, introduce the different types of interviews one may expect and sample questions that prospective employers may ask, and discuss how to manage the interview.
All three sessions run from 3 to 4:30 pm.
Cheryl Schwartz, MS, MSW, LCSW, CRC, has been a consultant/coach to individuals and organizations for more than 20 years. She holds advanced degrees in counseling and vocational rehabilitation from Hofstra University, and in social work from Southern Connecticut State University.
She has designed and conducted a variety of programs for industry on career development, outplacement, interpersonal communication, conflict management, executive coaching, change management, new leader development, vocational rehabilitation, stress management, balancing family and work, as well as pre-employment evaluation and screening for executives.
