NMS Students Participate In Local Chemistry Challenge
Newtown Middle School students participated in the âYou Be The Chemist Challenge,â an educational and fun academic competition for fifth through eighth grade students who are learning the science of chemistry, held at the school on Wednesday, February 4.
Hubbard-Hall Inc of Waterbury sponsored event, which had 18 students participating from multiple schools. The participating schools included NMS, City Hill Middle School in Naugatuck and Thomaston Middle School in Thomaston.
First place in the challenge went to Siddhant Shah of City Hill Middle School, second place went to Yossi Kohrman-Glasser of Newtown Middle School, and third place went to Robert Archibald of Thomaston Middle School.
All three winners received prizes, including a trophy, gift cards and activity sets, and will advance to the state challenge to compete with the winners of other regions. The state challenge will take place on April 4 in Waterbury.
