Nicholas Bennett Mentesana of Sandy Hook was one of 409 candidates who received degrees from Missouri University of Science and Technology, in Rolla, Mo., on Saturday, December 20 of last year. Nicholas graduated with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. Nicholas was also named to the university’s fall 2008 honor list. Students named to the list carried a minimum of 12 credit hours and a grade point average of 3.2 or more.

Jessica Neufeld was named to the fall 2008 Dean’s List at Loyola College in Baltimore, Md. To qualify for the Dean’s List at the college students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 and carry a minimum of 15 credits for the semester.

Alfred C. Mancuso received a bachelor of arts in international relations and economics, Summa Cum Laude, degree, and Monica L. Zigman received a master of public health in international health degree from Boston University in January.

Lauralton Hall, a college preparatory high school for girls in Milford, released its Honor Roll for the second quarter this week. Local students earning High Honors on the roll were sophomore Katherine Siroky and seniors Mary LoPiccolo, Margaret Morrissey, and Hannah Glasrud of Sandy Hook. Local students who earned Honors at the school were freshmen Nicole Lang, Rhea Schneider, and Mary Siroky, and from Sandy Hook, Christina Gould, Alexandra Hamar, Kelly Ann McCarthy, Amanda Watson; sophomore Emily Marussich of Sandy Hook; junior Caitlin Kalbacher of Sandy Hook,  and seniors Annemarie Davis and Meagan Kelly.

Ashley Soucar and Anna Marie Unschuld, both of Sandy Hook, were named to the Honor Roll for their academic work during the fall term at Westover School in Middlebury, a boarding school of 200 girls, grades nine through 12.
