Thomas Hennessey
WATERTOWN — Thomas Hennessey, 69, of Watertown, formerly of Southbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of 47 years to Judith (Thompson) Hennessey.
Tom was born in Waterbury on November 29, 1955, to George and Joan (Hunihan) Hennessey. He grew up in Southbury and started working as a teenager at his uncle’s gas station where he learned how to be a mechanic. Tommy graduated from Southbury High School and worked at the gas station until the family sold it.
He later worked for 11 years at Baskin Robbins, and recently retired from Pomperaug Regional School District 15 after 23 years as a maintenance technician.
In his spare time, Tommy loved hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with Judi in their motorhome.
Besides his wife, Tom is survived by his brother Michael (Helen) Hennessey; his nephews George (Deirdre) Hennessey and Michael (Holly) Hennessey; four grand-nieces and nephews: Ryan, Carina, Casey, and Caiden; his brother-in-law Wayne (Noreen) Thompson, their daughter Jolene (Bryon) Swann and children Kalyn and Haley. Tom is also survived by his aunt Sully Short.
He was predeceased by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Tom at 10 am Tuesday, March 18, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South in Southbury. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, March 17, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury. Interment will take place at St Rose of Lima Cemetery in Sandy Hook.
Memorial contributions in Tommy’s name are asked to be forwarded to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at StJude.org.
