Stop Sign
Police report they stopped motorist Dawnette Watt, 51, of Bridgeport for not stopping at a stop sign posted on Swamp Road at its intersection with Botsford Hill Road at about 6:38 am March 5.
On investigating, police charged Watt with failure to obey a stop sign and with driving with a suspended license.
Police said they released Watt on a written promise to appear March 23 in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Michael Wilk, 51, of Brookfield went to the police station on the afternoon of March 1 and was charged with second-degree failure to appear in court and with failure to insure a motor vehicle, police said.
Police said that the violations stem from a motor vehicle accident that occurred in September 2008 at the intersection of South Main Street and Prospect Drive.
After processing on March 1, police released Wilk on $500 bail for a March 17 court appearance.
Evading Responsibility
At about 10:50 am on March 4, an 88-year-old local woman was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry sedan northward near 91 South Main Street, when a southbound Honda driven by an unknown motorist entered the northbound travel lane, collided with the Toyota, and then continued traveling southward away from the collision scene, police said. The Toyota driver was not injured.
Police said the vehicle that hit the Toyota is blue in color and is likely an Accord or a Civic. That Honda would be missing its left exterior rear-view mirror and would have left-frontal body damage, police said.

DUI Case
Police report that at about 1:12 am on March 7, they stopped motorist Martha Merillat, 52, of 57 Taunton Lake Road while she was driving on Castle Hill Road because she was not keeping to the right side of the street.
Police said that after giving Merillat field sobriety tests, they charged her with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.
After processing, police released Merillat on $100 bail for a March 19 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.
Illegal Dumping
Police are investigating a case illegal dumping in which someone left a variety of used furniture along a roadside in Dodgingtown.
Sometime between about 11:30 pm on Friday, March 5, and 8:45 am on Saturday, March 6, someone illegally dumped two mattresses, a box spring, a couch, a tire and rim, and three broken chairs in a wooded area alongside the road near 4 Poorhouse Road.
Police ask anyone with information on who dumped the furniture to contact Officer Dana Schubert at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Vandalism
Sometime during the night of Friday, March 5, or early morning hours of Saturday, March 6, someone vandalized a curbside residential mailbox on Tunnel Road, near its intersection with Barnabas Road, according to police.
Police are investigating the property damage and ask anyone with information about the criminal mischief to contact Officer Charles Guernsey at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Sandy Hook Collision
A two-car collision occurred at the intersection of Berkshire Road (Route 34) and Bradley Lane about 3 pm February 27, police report.
Motorist Catherine Robinson, 55, of 10 Bradley Lane, who was driving a 2008 Toyota Camry sedan, stopped and was waiting at a stop sign at the end of Bradley Lane, as motorist Landon Sock, 43, of 10 Honey Lane, was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan northward on Berkshire Road, police said.
The Mitsubishi then attempted to make a left turn onto Bradley Lane, but in doing so, the Mitsubishi struck the Toyota, police said. There were no injuries.
Police issued Sock a written warning for making an improper turn.
I-84 Crash
State police report a one-car accident on westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, about 9:30 pm March 1.
Motorist Thomas J. Bresson, Jr, 26, of Southbury, who was driving a 2000 Daewoo Lanos in the left lane of two lanes, fell asleep at the wheel, after which the car went out of control, struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder and then spun out, coming to rest on the highway median, state police report.
Bresson was not injured. State police gave him an infraction for failure to drive in the proper lane.
South Main Accident
Police report a two-car accident near 71 South Main Street about 4:14 pm March 8.
Northbound motorist Tisha McCoy, 44, of 5 Old Purdy Station Road, who was driving a 2003 Honda sedan, slowed for traffic conditions, police said.
Northbound motorist Michael Vu, 42, of Lindenhurst, N.Y., who was driving a 1997 Infiniti sedan directly behind the Honda, then attempted to stop, but skidded and struck the rear end of the Honda, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Vu a written warning for following too closely.
Golf Clubs Gone
Police are investigating a burglary/larceny at a Tamarack Road residence in which the only items taken were a golf bag full of various expensive golf clubs. The crime constitutes third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny. Both charges are felonies.
Police said they learned on the afternoon of March 6, that someone sometime between February 22 and March 5 had illegally entered an unlocked, detached garage on the premises and stole the golf bag and golf clubs. Police recall a similar past incident having occurred on Lake Road in which the only items stolen were a golf bag and golf clubs.

House Burglary
Police are investigating a burglary at a Berkshire Road (Route 34) house in which coins, euros, and silverware were stolen.
Police said the burglary occurred sometime between 8:15 am and 2:45 pm on March 8.
