Scrapbooking In The Digital Age

“Scrapbooking in the Digital Age” will be the program presented by Kirsten Bazuros at the next Flagpole Photographers Camera Club monthly meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 18, at 7:30 pm. The group will be in the lower meeting room at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.

With most photographers moving from film to digital in recent years, the art of keeping scrapbooks of photos has also transgressed to digital. Mrs Bazuros made the transition after becoming a consultant to Creative Memories, a company that specializes in making digital storybooks. While selling the company’s software, Mrs Bazuros also creates bound color books for clients and herself.

Living in Sandy Hook with her husband and three small children, she has plenty of opportunities to create imaginative digital books that allow more creative results and quality of product. For her presentation, Mrs Bazuros will discuss and demonstrate that beautiful bound storybooks can be created simply with computer software. Producing  books for long-term preservation with quality materials is a benefit of her work with Creative Memories.

The Booth Library will be the subject of the monthly competition for Flagpole members. Several members convened at the library last fall to get a feel for the photographic opportunities there. Competition photos can have been taken any time in the past two years, however. Members will also compete in both “open” color and black and white prints, with out of town judges scoring and commenting on the entries.

Thirteen members of the club recently submitted digital photos to the Greater Lynn (Mass.) International Exhibition. Of the 52 images submitted, 13 have been selected for the 34th annual exhibition on April 10 at Danvers (Mass.) High School. The club’s results will be announced by Sheila Silvernail.

Guests and non-members are welcome to attend Flagpole Photographers meetings, free of charge.
