Dryer Fire Causes Smoke Damage At Beagle Trail Home
About 6:34 pm on March 5, Botsford firefighters responded to a report of the odor of smoke at the Cucco residence at 2 Beagle Trail, fire officials said.
Beagle Trail is a short, dead-end street extending from New Lebbon Road, near Marlin Road.
Botsford Fire Rescue Company Chief Wayne Ciaccia said this week that Botsford firefighters initially responded to the incident as an investigatory call to learn what was causing the smoke odor at the two-story Colonial-style house.
On reaching the house, firefighters found that the fabric contents of a clothes dryer that was running in a utility room had ignited, causing flames to shoot out of the dryer.
Deeming the incident a structure fire, Sandy Hook, Hook & Ladder, Dodgingtown and Hawleyville firefighters were then alerted of the fire within the house.
Firefighters used a fire extinguisher to control the accidental blaze, which was contained to the dryer. They removed the dryer from the house, placing it outdoors.
The burning fabrics within the dryer caused smoke damage to the houseâs interior. Deputy Fire Marshal Rich Frampton estimated fire-related damage at $20,000. There were no injuries.
