STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURES SUBJECT OF TALK AT CHINA STUDENTSâ CLUB MARCH 27
avv/gs set 3/12 #731801
BOSTON, MASS. â Myrna Schkolne, author and collector, will deliver an illustrated lecture, âPeople, Passions, Pastimes and Pleasures: Staffordshire Figures, 1810â1835â on Thursday, March 27, at 1 pm, at the College Club, 44 Commonwealth Avenue. Refreshments will precede the meeting at 12:30.
Schkolne, South African by birth, was introduced as a child to the world of antique objects through weekly shopping trips to Portobello Road while living with her family in England for a few years. Here, she bought her first ceramic collectible, starting a hobby that quickly became a lifelong passion.
Together Schkolne and her husband have accumulated a collection that strongly reflects their shared pleasure in Eighteenth and early Nineteenth Century English pottery. In recent years, her research has focused on figures, and her book People, Pastimes, Passions and Pleasures: Staffordshire Figures 1810â1835 was published in 2006.
The China Studentsâ Club welcomes guests and potential new members. The lectures are free for members; non-members and guests will be charged $3 admission.
