‘FIBER REVOLUTION’ SHOW AND QUILTS AT WINDSOR ARTS CENTER

WINDSOR, CONN. — The Windsor Art Center at the Freight House presents “Fiber Revolution: Spectrum,” an exhibit of art quilts, on view through April 19.

The exhibition includes quilts that grab the viewer’s attention from the across the gallery juxtaposed with small framed works that beckon the viewer in for a closer look. “Spectrum” is a mélange of colors, shapes and textures. Members of Fiber Revolution created these contemporary artworks.

Fiber Revolution is a network of 28 professional textile artists, living in six states, who are also members of SAQA (Studio Art Quilts Associates). Fiber Revolution’s mission is to promote quilts as an art form and educate the public about fiber art. Fiber Revolution has been exhibiting as a group since 2003 in numerous galleries across the United States, most recently at the Museum of the American Quilter’s Society in Paducah, Ky.

The Windsor Art Center at the Freight House is at 40 Mechanic Street. Susan Ferraro of Colchester, Conn., and Gwyned Trefethen of Sherborn, Mass., are the curators. Trefethen will give a gallery talk, on Saturday, April 12, at 11 am. Admission is free.
