Harlem Superstars Help Raise Funds For NUSAR

Newtown Underwater Search And Rescue (NUSAR) members met the Harlem Superstars on the court at Newtown High School for the annual fundraiser-comedy basketball game on Saturday, March 5.

The show included some laughs and some dunks. Members of the Harlem Superstars entertained audiences with various stunts and feats. Harlem Superstar Chris “Super Chicken” Turnquist balanced a spinning basketball on the tip of a slim object while he knelt, then lay, on the high school gymnasium’s floor. Two of the Harlem Superstars also dressed as clowns to surprise the audience before the game began.

Once the game was underway, the Harlem Superstars team also jokingly lay on the floor, waiting for a member of the NUSAR team to score. Other various pranks and jokes continued throughout the game.

Proceeds from the yearly comedy event help NUSAR purchase new equipment for the volunteer dive rescue and recovery team.
