*From the desk of my friend and co-editor John Voket comes the following: Whoâs your summer concert connection? On the Road just received exclusive news that the UnionSavings Bank Summer Concert Series at Ives Concert Park will feature An Evening With STEELY DAN on Monday, July 25.
Donald Fagen and Walter Becker will be live in Danbury with their talented group of players, including Keith Carlock (drums), Jon Herington (guitar), Freddie Washington (bass), Jim Beard (keys), and Michael Leonhart, Walt Weiskopf, Roger Rosenberg, and Jim Pugh (horns), plus background singers Carolyn Leonhart, Cindy Mizelle, and Catherine Russell.
According to our friends at Premier Concerts, who are promoting the show along with a number of other highly-anticipated concerts at The Ives this summer, Donald Fagan fell in love with the Danbury venue when his Dukes of September tour opened there last season, and he was anxious to come back with his âoriginalâ band.
Tickets will go on sale April 8, and The Bee will have a complete preview of the Ives summer lineup coming soon (including one country show Shannon is particularly excited for already). In the meantime, go to premierconcerts.com for updates on ticket prices ahead of the April 8 on-sale for Steely Dan.
*In addition to the local show, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers will also perform at The MGM Grand at Foxwoods on July 29. Tickets for this Steely Dan show in Mashantucket are $55, $65 and $75, and are scheduled to go on sale at 10 am April 8.
*Meanwhile, JASON ALDEAN has has added the Comcast Theatre to his 2011 tour. The country singer will be performing on Sunday, May 20, with special guests ERIC CHURCH and THE JANEDEAR GIRLS. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 11, at 10 am, with reserved seating available for $39.75 and $49.75 and lawn tickets priced at $24.75. For a limited time, a specially priced $75 four-pack of lawn tickets is available.
Go to LiveNation.com or any TicketMaster outlet for these tickets.
*Tony Summo and Lou Bellofatto will be at Proud Maryâs twice this month. Performing at OLD SCHOOL, the duo will be the musical guests for the lounge at 19 Main Street in Newtown on Fridays, March 11 and 25.
*THE ADULTS return to headline at The One-Eyed Pig this weekend. Saturdayâs show at this venue will be unusual for the band in that they will be performing, not just hosting the open mic event they usually handle.
*demitasse café in Sandy Hook (3 Glen Road, the former home of Mocha Coffee House), will host its first Comedy Night this weekend. The show will begin at 7 pm on Friday, March 11, and space is limited so reservations are suggested; call 203-304-9600.
The event will feature a number of stand-up comics from the area, headlined by Eric Barakat, and the evening will be PG-13 rated. There is no admission with food purchase.
Until next week, Iâll be seeing you⦠on the road.
Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
