Early Risk Factors Of Depression & Anxiety
Early Risk Factors Of Depression & Anxiety
DANBURY â The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Danbury and Right to Flourish, a support group, have been co-sponsoring a series for discussion and learning on anxiety and depression. The final of three planned presentations will be offered Wednesday, March 16.
Individuals, family members, and professionals are invited. Attendees can benefit from all three programs or any combination of the three, so those who may have missed the first two are still welcome at the third.
Presentations are in UUCDâs Fellowship Hall, 24 Clapboard Ridge Road (Route 39). Each begins at 7 pm.
Jonathan Oler , PhD, will present the March 16 program. Dr Oler is an associate scientist of the Brain Imaging Laboratory at Health Emotions Research Institute in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. He studies the early risk factors that predispose people toward depression and anxiety.
His research using functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and PET scans is aimed at understanding the neurobiologic and genetic mechanisms of anxious temperament, a childhood risk factor for the later development of anxiety disorders and depression in adulthood.
The Right to Flourish Support Group promotes a happy and content life for all and encourages the freedom to enjoy new and lifelong interests at any age.
Physical health is often offered as a measure of happiness, but good mental health is equally important for dealing with stress on the road to contentment.
