Constance Bond Williams

Constance “Connie” Bond Williams, 87, of Newtown, beloved wife of 63 years of Newton H. Williams, Jr, died suddenly March 4, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Monroe the daughter of Nellie and Charles Bond, she had been a lifelong area resident.

She was a graduate of The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall, Class of 1941. A lifelong active and devoted member of Stepney Baptist Church, Mrs Williams was a member of the American Baptist Women’s Group, the Ladies Aid Society, sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school, and formerly served on the deaconate.

Mrs Williams was an avid antique doll collector and was proud of the extensive collection she maintained. She always looked forward to her annual trips to Vermont and seeing the friends she developed there more than 80 years ago. She loved cooking and baking, and most especially, time spent with her family.

Survivors in addition to her devoted husband include two sons, Jeffrey A. Williams, and his wife Donna, of Newtown, and Craig A. Bond of Bethlehem; five cherished grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Chandler Bond; and many nieces and nephews. Her son, Glenn Williams, and a brother, Sanford Bond, predeceased her.

A funeral service took place March 9. Interment followed in Stepney Cemetery.
