Armin Johannes Paulin

Master Pastry Chef

Armin Johannes Paulin, 84, of Newtown, died March 3, after a long illness. Born in Schneeberg, Germany, he moved to the United States in 1956.

While in Europe, Mr Paulin became a master pastry chef after studying in Germany, Switzerland, and England. He owned and operated the Swiss Chalet Pastry Shop in New Canaan where he lived with his wife, Ruth, and his family. He specialized in making fancy European pastries, cakes, wedding cakes, and fine chocolates. Mr Paulin was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 67 in New Canaan.

He is survived by three children including his daughter, Frances R. Paulin, DVM, of Sandy Hook; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Muller Paulin, in 1995.

A Memorial Service took place March.
