Adopt A Dog From The Pound

The following dogs are among those that are available for adoption from the Newtown pound, which is located at the end of Ethan Allen Road (behind the transfer station):

ROSIE is a beautiful female Beagle with the classic tri coloring — tan, black, and white. She weighs in at a petite 15 pounds or so. This lady doesn’t mind us telling her age which is 4 1/2 years. She is calm, cool, and collected and would make a wonderful canine contribution to any home looking for a gentle, doe eyed beauty.

JETER is a 3 year old male Spaniel mix. He has been well cared for and has a very gentle disposition. He is white with many black spots and sports a coat that is so soft that you wouldn’t believe it. Jeter hasn’t missed many meals and weighs in at around 60 pounds. He would do well in just about any home. Give him a little exercise and he’ll drop those extra pounds in no time.

If you wish to adopt, please call Newtown Animal Control at 203-426-6900 or Canine Advocates at 203-426-5327. Canine Advocates of Newtown, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer group, raises funds to spay/neuter and provide shots against DHLPP and rabies for all of the Newtown Pound cats and dogs. CAN also provides a free training DVD and Beyond Obedience Dog Training offers one free individual training lesson to adopters.

If you cannot adopt but would like to help, please send your donation to Canine Advocates, PO Box 236, Newtown, CT 06470. Visit canineadvocates.org or call 203-426-5327 to volunteer.
