AP — ROBERT MEYERHOFF ESTATE GETS OK TO BECOME ART MUSEUM

AVV 3-10 #731334

TOWSON, MD. (AP) — The Baltimore County Council has approved a zoning measure that will allow Robert Meyerhoff’s estate to become an art museum.

Meyerhoff’s attorneys say the home on a 250-acre property near Loch Raven Reservoir will become a public museum of post-World War II art after Meyerhoff dies.

The zoning law allows public museums on agricultural land when they house a collection worth at least $20 million dollars. It was approved in a 6-1 vote, over objections of area residents opposed to vehicle traffic and others opposed to the nonfarm use of agricultural land.

Attorney Robert Hoffman says the Meyerhoff collection is worth more than $300 million.
