WHS Stone Wall Lecture

WETHERSFIELD — Wethersfield Historical Society will open its winter lecture series on Monday, March 28, with a book signing and slide lecture by Dr Robert Thorson, professor of geology at University of Connecticut.

The event will take place at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, 200 Main Street. The program will begin at 6:30 pm.

Dr Thorson’s program, “Exploring Connecticut Geology Through Stone Walls,” will feature slides of walls in the state, a discussion about their differences, and an explaination on how they tell a story of local geology.

Dr Thorson is the author of Stone by Stone and Exploring Stone Walls: A Field Guide to New England’s Stone Walls.

Admission is $5.

The lecture series will continue on April 18 with “Yesterday’s Hartford” with Clayton Maine.
