Recital Planned For Saturday Afternoon
Piano Plus One will present a recital by the mezzo soprano Helen Falcone and the pianist and keyboardist Jeanne Hinkson on Saturday, March 12, at The Homesteads.
âAn Irish Medleyâ will begin at 2:30 pm. The public is welcome, free of charge, and light refreshments will be served.
The performance will include familiar songs, with the audience to be invited to sing along during a portion of the program.
Helen Falcone is a native New Yorker, raised and educated in both Westchester County and southern California. In addition to her vocal studies, she also plays piano, clarinet and guitar. She has performed locally in choruses and churches. She has been a soloist with both, as well as in local productions, having leading roles in several local musicals as well.
During the summer of 2001, she had the opportunity to study and perform opera in Italy. In April 2003, she was chosen as a semi-finalist in the Friedrich Schorr Memorial Performance Prize in Voice International Competition.
She is a member of the Litchfield Hills Opera Ensemble Quartet.
Jeanne Hinkson has played the piano most of her life, loving both classical and popular music. She taught privately and at the Yamaha School of Music on Long Island, and played in restaurants and country clubs there.
Since moving to Heritage Village ten years ago, she has done a lot of accompanying and some composing. Her first musical, Simple Pleasures, was produced in the Village in the summer of 2001, and starred Pomperaug High School students as well as Villagers.
