Alzheimer’s Support Group

Begins At The Homesteads

The Homesteads At Newtown Retirement Community is hosting an Alzheimer’s Support Group on alternating Thursday evenings at 7 pm; the next session is March 10. Families, friends and caregivers of the memory-impaired are invited to attend and share their experiences and concerns in dealing with their challenges.

Professional counselor and therapist Rev Bob Werme leads the support group.  Rev Werme is pastoral care coordinator with Hospice and Palliative Care of the Connecticut VNA in Waterbury.  Assisting Reverend Werme is Neena Finch, the recreation coordinator for The Homesteads At Newtown’s GardenWalk Neighborhood for residents with Alzheimer’s or Memory-Impairment.

Respite Care will be available during the support group.  Pre-registration before each session is preferred, but not required.  To register or for more information, call Neena Finch at The Homesteads At Newtown: (203) 426-8118.

The Homesteads At Newtown is located at 166 Mt. Pleasant Road (Route 6) in Newtown.
