Patricia Virginia Kick, “Ginger,” passed into the gates of heaven on March 9, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her adoring family. Ginger was born on January 13, 1945, to John and Theresa Palazzo.

She graduated from Masuk High School in Monroe, Conn., in 1963 and went on to obtain her nursing degree at the University of Bridgeport. She worked as a nurse at Southbury Training School for 27 years. Ginger also served on the Newtown Ambulance for 15 years. She volunteered for the Southbury Health District delivering COVID and flu vaccines up until 2022.

She was a lifelong New York Yankees fan and enjoyed watching both her children and three grandchildren play sports all their lives.

She enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, crocheting, and making beautiful quilts that all of her family and friends will cherish. She loved spending time with her family and her cat, Baby.

Ginger is survived by her former husband and friend, Robert J. Kick, Sr; her loving son, Robert J. Kick, Jr, and his wife, Laurie Kick, of Sandy Hook; her loving daughter, Lisa (Kick) Henriquez, of Waterbury; and three grandchildren, Joseph Pabon, Lismarie Pabon, and Sarah Kick. In addition, her sister, MaryAnn Rosa, of Watertown; her brother, Larry Palazzo, of Monroe, her nieces, Susan (Rosa) Caron and Jennifer (Palazzo) Wildman; and her nephews, John Rosa and Jeff Palazzo, also survive her.

A service to celebrate Ginger’s life will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury, Conn., at 10 am.

The family is grateful for all of the doctors and staff at Danbury Hospital’s Cancer Center for all their caring and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Whiskers Pet Rescue of Southbury (Whiskers Pet Rescue, PO Box 367, Southbury CT 06488; or whiskerspetrescue.org/donations).
