To the Editor:

To all voters in Newtown, you will have the opportunity to vote on Tuesday April 5 in a referendum to approve the building of a community center which will include a 50 meter pool, a zero entry pool, and not less than 13,000 square feet (possibly as much as 18,000 square feet) of multipurpose rooms.

You will be asked to vote Yes or No on building this community center using $9,550,000 from the GE Foundation gift and $5,000,000 from money to be bonded by the town for this purpose. Referendum language can be confusing, but this is what you are being asked to vote on.

Please ask questions; read the entire document related to this matter which is on file at the municipal center; and/or get the facts from anyone on the commission that has worked for 9 months to bring this question forward. Then vote either Yes or No, but vote.
