Stray Kats To Offer Their Take On Seasonal Bellwood Play
The Stray Kats Theatre Company, a not-for-profit theatre company that offers staged readings in Edmond Town Hallâs Alexandria Room, will offer as its next reading Steve Bellwoodâs play, By the Heirs of St Patrick, an irreverently funny new work in the tradition of Waiting For Guffman about the annual St Patrickâs day revue offered by an amateur performance troupe in an Ireland pub.
Tickets are $25 when purchased in advance, and $30 at the door. Showtime is 7 pm.
While the readings are traditionally followed by Q&A with the actors and Artistic Director Kate Katcher, the March event will also include hors dâoeuvres from Sweet Mustard Shop of Stratford and Guinness courtesy of Cork & Barrel of Newtown.
For further information, contact Kate Katcher at 203-514-2221 or info@straykatstheatrecompany.org, or visit straykatstheatrecompany.org.
âThis play explores the happenings around the serious offerings of the troupe which turn out to be hilarious misrepresentations of classic Irish playsâ states playwright Steve Bellwood. âI like to describe it as an âIrish Commedical Eclectic Profundis with the Ballygas All Blarney and Blatherinâ Dramatics, Poetics and Phonetics Club.â This community theater group offers condensed versions of plays in a bar after the annual parade. But it is the inhabitants of the bar that provide much of the fun with philandering husbands, two sets of twins, and their utter mishandling of titles like Playboy of the Western World and Long Days Journey Into Night.â
âWeâre thrilled to bring this new work to Stray Kats Theatre Company to help celebrate one of the yearâs favorite holidays,â said Kate Katcher. âSteve Bellwoodâs innate writing talent is sure to capture our audienceâs hearts and give them quite a few laughs in the process.â
