Family Programs

Parenting Education Program (PEP) Putting Children First is a State of Connecticut program required as a pre-requisite to granting a divorce. Sessions are designed to help families cope with the effects of divorce on children.

CPR Course

American Red Cross CPR will be offered Tuesday, March 27, from 6 to 9 pm. This course will cover cardiopulmonary resuscitation for infants, children and adults. This course is great for all caregivers! The American Red Cross certification is good for 2 years, unlike previous Red Cross certifications. Cost is $55 and registration is required. Course taught at 17 Church Hill Road.

CPR for businesses! If your agency or business needs CPR or First Aid, please contact Candice at 203-270-4335 and we can bring the course to your agency.

Youth Programs

We are looking for a group of youths from either Newtown Middle School or Newtown High School and a group of adults to participate in a Religious Focus Group on the topic of underage drinking. You are eligible for community service hours. There will be incentive for this group as well.

This group will be held on Monday, March 19, from 3 to 3:30 for the youths, and 3:30 to 4 pm for the adults at NYFS, 17 Church Hill Road. Registration is required.

Support Groups

*Spring Into Sobriety! Adults who wish to work through their feelings and issues of drug and/or alcohol abuse can attend a new 12-week Relapse Prevention Group.

  Come and explore new skills and ways to create and maintain a more meaningful life while making a commitment to sobriety. The creative arts will be used to enhance each participant’s experience in the group. 

 Spring into Sobriety will help you reinforce positive decisions and move your life in a positive direction. This group will be facilitated by Thea Schiller, LPC. Most insurances are accepted as well as a sliding scale, call for more information.

Call to register (walk-ins will not be accepted), and please note the registration deadline is April 16. Also note this voluntary group will not fulfill any mandated requirements for DCF, probation or parole.

The group will meet Mondays from 6 to 7 pm, beginning April 23.
