Camera Club Events Announced

Flagpole Photographers Camera Club invites the public to attend a photo competition that will be conducted during the club’s next meeting on Thursday, March 15, at C.H. Booth Library.

The program will begin at 7:30 pm in the lower level meeting room of the library, 25 Main Street.

Non-members are invited to attend the meeting and hear the critiques of the photos, which will be entered by club members. This month’s competition will feature the categories of Assigned Subject: Motion, Open Color and Open Black & White. Members are reminded to check the club’s website for photo entry requirements; the public is invited welcome to visit the website, FlagpolePhotographers.com, to learn more about the local grup.

All photos will receive commentary from a neighboring camera club judge. Refreshments will be served.

Also this month the club has a large collection of member’s works on view at Avancé Esthétiques Day Spa at 228 Main Street South, in Sand Hill Plaza. The exhibit will be available for viewing until March 28th during normal business hours. Many of the photos will be available for purchase.

HDR Workshop

An HDR (High Dynamic Range) workshop will be presented on Thursday, April 5, at 7:30 pm, at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street.

HDR is a technique that allows a photographer to capture a greater range between the lightest and darkest areas of a scene. It incorporates capturing the photo in a variety of exposures and then stacking them using software specifically designed for that purpose.

Experienced photographers will be available to assist attendees and instruct on basic camera functions. All levels from beginner to experienced are welcome. This is a hands on event, bring your camera.
