Andrew LeMarche was named to the Deanâs List for the fall 2011 semester for the School of Engineering at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. To be named on the Deanâs List at the University of Connecticut, students must be in the top 25 percent of their class and achieve a 3.0 grade point average or greater. Andrew also recently earned the Paul Krenicki Endowed Scholarship in Sustainable Energy for the 2012-13 academic year. Andrew is set to receive the award on March 22 during a reception and ceremony.

Kennedy Bassett of Sandy Hook, a student at Newtown High School, has been selected to represent Connecticut as a National Youth Delegate at the 2012 Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University. A group of 250 students from across the country, chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in leadership in the sciences and conservation studies, will participate in an intensive study weeklong of leadership in environmental science and conservation June 24â29. George Mason University along with partners National Geographic and the National Zoo will welcome the nationâs youth scholars to Washington, D.C., with distinguished faculty, guest speakers, and direct access to elite D.C. practitioners. The Summit will encourage and inspire young leaders who desire a unique experience focused on successful careers in this dynamic industry.
Jared C. Kloth and Andrew C. Meisel of Newtown were named to the deanâs list at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, for their outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2011-12 academic year. Students whose grade point averages are 3.61 or higher are named to the Deanâs List.

Andrew P. Nichols and Kevin M. Rovelli of Newtown will participate in Hamilton Collegeâs Choir Spring Break Tour. The Clinton, N.Y., college will have students participating in the choir perform at churches and cathedrals in the Mid-Atlantic region March 10 to March 16.
Genevieve Marie Santayana has been named to the fall 2011 Deanâs List at University of the Sciences, Philadelphia. Genevieve is from Sandy Hook and is a biology student at the university. Selection for Deanâs List at the university is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a âCâ and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4 for courses taken in the fall semester of 2011.
Harrison Reiner Gillis of Sandy Hook is a recipient of the Deanâs Award for academic excellence during the 2011 fall term at Colgate University, Hamilton, N.Y., where Harrison is a member of the Class of 2013. To be eligible for the Deanâs Award, a Colgate student must achieve a 3.30 or higher average while enrolled in four courses.
Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., announced that Kelley Sullivan of Newtown will take part in an internship this spring through the Marist College Communication Internship Program. Kelley is a communication/public relations major at the college, and will intern at Maury Show in Stamford.
