“Discovering Moths: Nighttime Jewels in Your Own Backyard,” a presentation by John Himmelman, will be the first program of 2025 hosted by The Town & Country Garden Club of Newtown.

All are invited to attend the program, scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, at 7 pm. It will be held at Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street.

John Himmelman is an author, illustrator, and naturalist. He has written and illustrated many books, most for children, but a few for adults on various natural history subjects.

He has served on a number of environmental boards and commissions over the years, including as president of New Haven Bird Club, CT Butterfly Association (which he cofounded), and Killingworth Land Conservation Trust.

Himmelman has led many trips afield in search of exciting flora and fauna and has given his presentations throughout the country. His talks began as a vehicle to share stories about the mountain of photographs he has amassed, and that hasn’t changed.

He lives in Killingworth with his wife, a potter.

Reservations are not needed for Town & Country Garden Club events. For additional information call 203-240-4219 or visit tcgardenclub.org.

The author of Discovering Moths: Nighttime Jewels in Your Own Backyard, John Himmelman will be the guest speaker for The Town & Country Garden Club of Newtown this month.
