This story has been updated to reflect a Thursday morning announcement to close schools. 

Newtown Public Schools will be closed Thursday, March 8, as announced by the district early Thursday morning.

The announcement followed a prior announcement on  Wednesday evening that schools would have a two hour delay and conditions would be further assessed Thursday morning.

All Newtown Public School staff offices, including the district's Central Office, will also be closed Thursday.
